Three Spendies screens: the splash screen, choosing the currency you want to receive, and the QR code of a payment request.

The idea

Splitting a bill is easy with a payment request. Getting paid in crypto was not: your friends needed a wallet, an exchange and a lot of patience.

Spendies turned that around. You create a payment request — festival tickets, 28 euros each — and share it in WhatsApp or as a QR code. Friends pay in euros, the way they always do; you receive bitcoin, litecoin or ether in your own wallet.

What we built

A web app you install on your phone: create and share payment requests, choose the currency you want to receive and link your own wallet.
A payment page for friends: pay in euros with your own bank, or straight from a crypto wallet.
Verification with a transfer of one cent from your own bank account, as Dutch law requires.
A native app in React Native, and the design for the next version.

Spendies: “How much would you like to request?” — 28 euros. — Ask for an amount in euros.
