The practice

Christiaan Kloes, the founder of Appic SandBox, trains entrepreneurs in attention — so they stay calm and sharp when it counts. Half-hour sessions at home or at the office, ten minutes of practice a day, and private retreats of two or three days in silence.

No talk therapy, nothing vague: sitting, noticing, practising. Rooted in the Mahasi tradition of insight meditation, taught by a certified meditation teacher with more than twenty silent retreats behind him.

Sitting still costs time. Not sitting still costs more.

The philosophy

Underneath the website sits a quieter project. Building companies since 2009 showed Christiaan where his limits were; meditation showed him something stranger — that we create those limits ourselves.

What remains is the most interesting question of all: how do you step out of the mental matrix you built yourself? And what is left when you do?
